The Tray is oval in form and stands on four cast panel feet. The raised rim is decorated with reeding and the side handles are attached to the main body with acanthus leaf mouldings. The centre of the Tray is engraved with a contemporary Armorial, Crest and Motto surrounded by an oblong cut cornered cartouche decorated with stylish foliate motifs., reeded rim, scratch weight ’81oz=15′ 60cm wide across the end handles, 2501grm (80oz) The arms are those of Gilpin of Scaleby, Cumberland; Gilpin of Westmoreland; or Gilpin of Bungay Suffolk, impaling Beaumont, co Leicester, or Beaumont of Beaumont Hall Suffolk. Length 24 inches weight 80 oz.
