A very fine pair of rococo Sauce Boats; standing on 3 cast shell feet which are applied to the main body by shells. The fluted body with a gadrooned wavy topped edge and a double scroll handle is applied to the upper inward scrolled body by an acanthus leaf thumb piece.

The Arms are those of Winchester, granted in Scotland in 1673, impaling another. Who this Mr Winchester married is impossible to say, as these latter arms are not recorded in any heraldic works.

Daniel Smith & Robert Sharp were suppliers of silver plate to both King George III and George IV.
