A very high quality French timepiece by the important maker : Alfred Drocourt of Paris.

Featuring a pristine white enamelled dial with black numbering – Roman numeral numbers featured inside smaller Arabic numeral on the outer minute ring, with steel hands, signed Drocourt Paris.

The mechanism back plate and the movement show the same serial number : 26529.

The heavy case is made of brass, with a cast brass carry handle. All of the glass panels have been bevelled including the oval glass top showing the jewelled lever platform escapement.

A single barrel movement with star wheel stop work (to prevent overwind).

The backplate stamped with the Drocourt mark (D and C either-side of a clock within an oval).

Supplied with a double ended brass key.

Pierre & Alfred Drocourt were included among the top echelons of carriage clocks makers in the mid to late Victorian period, having a factory at Saint-Nicolas-d’Ailermont in France, and in Paris at Rue Debelleyme 28 and Rue de Limoges.
Drocourt made highly regarded carriage clocks which were awarded numerous medals at exhibitions, such as the Bronze Medal at Paris 1867, the Silver at Paris 1878 and the gold at Paris in 1889.
Alfred Drocourt, the son of Pierre Drocourt, took over the business in the 1870s.
