Simon Jouet (A Fine Maker)
Simon Jouet was a Huguenot silversmith active in London during the 18th century. He is known for his work, particularly his cast candlesticks, and was apprenticed to John Orchard in 1718, later being turned over to Thomas Folkingham. Jouet became a freeman in 1725 and registered his first mark as a large worker around the same time. He also registered a second mark as a smallworker in 1725. Jouet’s work is characterized by its quality and distinct hallmarks, and examples of his candlesticks can be found in collections
